Following a successful project at the college’s sister campus in Harrow, Image Creation were appointed in the middle of the lockdown to strip out an existing West Block building and refit to support the College’s appointment as one of the UK’s first providers of the new IOT qualifications.
The project involved moving existing staff and equipment to another building, then stripping out the building back to a shell format maintaining existing heating and primary services.
Then we needed to build new partitioned space and refit to a high spec to reflect the exciting new technological courses.
The works included all aspects of fit out all from our in house teams including, new staircases and balustrading, installing Fd30s fire doors and specialist glazed and fire-rated glass partitions and doors.
New flooring, lighting and bulkheads to change the space from standard 50sq m classrooms into a look and feel for technology-based learning at university standard.
Image Creation designed and installed glazed fire rated glazed screens with privacy film to create a multi-use learning space also.
The result was a success with some great branding supplied and fitted to enhance the space also.
It was not straight forward. Attempting to deliver space and services for plant and machinery that could not all be delivered to Government supply chain issues, teachers who should be specifying requirements struggling with workloads caused by lockdown and online learning.
That said our team were committed and worked all hours to ensure that there would be no failure on the part of application and delivery and I think for the College, Project Team and Image Creation is was a triumph considering the strain caused by the pandemic on supply chains.
